CSK vs GT: Brevis, Mhatre Shine Bright for CSK to Secure Final Win in IPL 2025

CSK vs GT Highlights, IPL 2025: Three new young players – Dewald Brevis, Ayush Mhatre, and Urvil Patel – were not even on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team when the IPL 2025 season began. But these mid-season replacements truly shone in CSK’s final game, giving fans hope for a bright future.

On a hot afternoon in Ahmedabad, 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre and local player Urvil Patel set the stage with quick scores in the 30s. Then, Dewald Brevis blasted a half-century in just 19 balls. This amazing hitting helped CSK reach their highest total of IPL 2025, 230 for 5, and finish the season with a big win.

Urvil-Mhatre’s Quickfire 30 Set the Stage for CSK Against Gujarat Titans

Ayush Mhatre, the youngest player ever for CSK, started with incredible intent. In the first over, he hit Mohammed Siraj for a four. In the very next over, he smashed left-arm bowler Arshad Khan for a series of sixes and fours, quickly reaching 33 runs off just 12 balls. Although Prasidh Krishna got him out for 34 off 17 balls, Mhatre’s quick start was electrifying.

CSK’s aggressive play continued with Urvil Patel. He also started strong, hitting a six off Siraj, helping CSK score 68 for 1 in the powerplay – their joint-highest powerplay score this season. Urvil, known for hitting pace bowlers, also attacked spinners like R Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan, reaching 37 runs off 19 balls before getting out.

Dewald Brevis came in and immediately hit top gear, smashing the ball for fours and sixes. He faced just 23 balls but sent nine of them to or over the boundary, showing off his powerful hitting and clever T20 shots that CSK had missed earlier in the season. He even hit a six over his head off Rashid Khan and a reverse-lap for four off Arshad.

In the second-to-last over, he smashed Siraj for two sixes and a four, completing his 19-ball fifty. By the time he was out on the last ball, CSK had touched 230. Brevis ended the season with 225 runs in six games, averaging 37.50 with a strike rate of 180.00.

Chennai Super Kings End the Dreadful Season on a Happy Note

Chasing a huge target, Gujarat Titans (GT) lost three wickets early in their powerplay – something that hadn’t happened to them all season. This left their middle order vulnerable. When Shahrukh Khan and B Sai Sudharsan fell in the 11th over, GT were only 86 for 5, and their chase crumbled.

Despite a tough season where they were the first team eliminated, CSK ended on a happy note. MS Dhoni took the winning catch, celebrating with his teammates, bringing a positive close to a difficult year.
