CSK’s Ayush Mhatre to Captain India in U-19 Tour of Australia

CSK sensation Ayush Mhatre continues his dream run as captain of Indian U-19 team. Following his success in England, he has now been named as the captain for the 5-match tour of the Indian U-19 team in Australia.

Both teams are set to feature in 3 Youth ODIs and 2 multi-day games in the coming months. And the core of the squad remains the same from the England tour.

CSK’s Ayush Mhatre to captain India

Ayush Mhatre, who was the leader of the pact in England, has been named as the captain once again. This comes after his phenomenal performance in the multi-day games.

The team featured in 2 Youth Tests in England, and Mhatre was the standout performer across both teams. He scored 340 runs in four innings, in which he scored 2 hundreds and 1 fifty as well.

Ayush started the tour poorly. As a batter, he couldn’t accomplish much in the Youth ODIs. Across 4 innings, he was only able to score 27 runs from 21 games.

But he showcased exceptional skills as a skipper. Rotating his bowlers at the right time and holding his nerves when it mattered the most, Mhatre helped his team win the series 3-2.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the bright star

Apart from Mhatre, the inclusion of Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the squad has also been the moot point. Ever since his IPL debut, the player has been breaking records left, right and centre.

Having broken the record for the youngest debutant and centurion in IPL, he scored another century in the Youth ODIs. This time, he didn’t just become the youngest player to do so, but also broke the record for the fastest century.

Suryavanshi, batting in his flamboyant style, smashed a ton in just 52 balls. During his short stay, he smashed 10 fours and 7 sixes, showcasing the powerhouse of a player that he is.

The CSK sensation Ayush Mhatre will have his usual deputy by his side in the form of Vihaan Malhotra. He, too, was instrumental in both series wins.

Malhotra scored 243 in the ODIs, batting at an average of 48 and smashing a century as well. In the multi-day format games, he scored 277 runs in four innings, with 2 fifties and 1 hundred to his name as well.

The tour kicks off on September 21 at Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane. All the ODI games will be played at the same venue on September 21, 24, and 26.

Even the first four-day game will also be played on the same venue on September 30. After which they will move to Mackay for the second test, which starts on October 7.
