Dewald Brevis wraps up the South African domestic season with a bang. The player was recognised as the CSA Domestic Player Of The Year 2025.
The young batter has had a great outing in the 2025 cricketing season so far. Everyone is aware of that. He managed to catch everyone’s eye during his stint with MI Cape Town during the SA20 season.
However, the base for the same was being set way before that.
Dewald Brevis is Domestic Player Of The Year 2025
The player was a part of the CSA Four-Day Series Division One 2024-25 tournament. It is the County, Ranji Trophy, and Sheffield Shield equivalent tournament of the South Africa.
Dewald Brevis represented the Titans team in this tournament and ended the season as the second highest runs scorer. Partaking in 8 games, and playing in 12 innings, the Baby Ab scored 573 runs at an impressive average of 47.73, this underscores his prowess as a red ball player.
Around the world he is renowned for his great power hitting. But these runs show that he is not just a pinch hitter. Rather, he is someone who can bide his time and play the long ball as well.
Brevis performance in South African Domestic season
Brevis scored 2 hundreds and 2 fifties during his stint for Titans. He was also instrumental behind their journey to the final. However, the team came up short against Lions who beat them on the basis of first inning lead.
Apart from that, he was also guided his team to a great outing in the One Day Cup. There too, playing for Titans, Brevis lead from the front. He scored 398 runs in 8 games at an average of 66 and strike rate of 156.
Overall, he was phenomenal with the bat in hand throughout the season. Following his stint with Chennai Super Kings, he received his maiden call up for the international team, and scored a fifty on his Test debut as well.
The Domestic Players’ Player of The Year for Brevis is just the first of many. He has shown his prowess across formats and with time it is only going to grow.
