IND vs BAN, 1st Test: Ravindra Jadeja Alongwith Ashwin Saves India After Top-Order Collapse

IND vs BAN, 1st Test: On a tough day of Test cricket in Chennai, Ravindra Jadeja stepped up to rescue India from a challenging situation. Facing Bangladesh in the first Test, India found themselves in trouble at 144 for 6. The early wickets put a lot of pressure on the middle and lower order, but Jadeja, along with R Ashwin, came to the rescue with a brilliant partnership.

Playing in his IPL home ground, M.A. Chidambaram, Chennai, Jadeja’s calm approach helped him anchor the innings as Bangladesh bowlers, especially Hasan Mahmud, had been in fine form, troubling India’s top order. Mahmud’s consistent seam movement dismissed star Indian batters Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli. Though Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant had offered some stability with a 62-run stand, India were still in deep trouble after losing six wickets.

Jadeja, playing with his usual composure, built a solid partnership with Ashwin, who was also in terrific form. Together, they forged an unbeaten 195-run stand that not only saved India from collapse but also put them in a strong position by the end of the day. Ashwin took the lead with his aggressive shots, reaching his sixth Test hundred and thrilling the Chennai crowd.

CSK’s most valuable player, Jadeja, meanwhile, took his time to settle in but was always ready to capitalize on any loose deliveries. He displayed his usual discipline at the crease, ensuring that India didn’t lose another wicket before stumps. His knock, while not as flashy as Ashwin’s, was equally important, as he remained unbeaten on 86 at the end of the day.

The partnership between Jadeja and Ashwin showcased their ability to handle pressure and bat with authority even when the team was in trouble. Their efforts turned the game around for India, giving them a fighting chance in the match. Though Bangladesh had bowled well in the first two sessions, they couldn’t maintain the pressure once the ball got softer, and India’s lower-middle order took full advantage.
