JSK Sign Duan Jansen as Replacement of van Schalkwyk

Joburg Super Kings have announced another replacement ahead of the SA20 2025-26 season. This time, they have signed up Duan Jansen, the brother of Marco Jansen, as a replacement for Jorich van Schalkwyk.

This is an interesting move, considering that Jorich van Schalkwyk was already a replacement announced for the unavailable James Vince for the first few games of the season.

Why was Duan Jansen added to JSK squad?

However, there was a huge development for the young player. Jorich van Schalkwyk, who is just 18 years old, received a maiden U19 World Cup call-up earlier this season.

The tournament is slated to take place in the second half of January 2026, which means that it will clash with the SA20 tournament as well. As a result, Jorich van Schalkwyk has had to withdraw from the JSK team.

JSK sign Duan Jansen as a replacement for van Schalkwyk

Duan Jansen is not a bad option for Joburg Super Kings. The pace bowling all-rounder has played for some of the biggest franchises in the league, including MI Cape Town in the SA20. He has also represented the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League.

Apart from that, his selection has happened at a time when he is shining the brightest in the domestic circuit. In his last First-Class game against the Dolphins, the player picked up a 7-fer, with 4 and 3 wickets in each inning of the game.

Although he didn’t get to showcase his batting prowess in the game, everyone knows that he is no mug with the bat as well. But as of now, he will be replacing James Vince, who is a pure batter. Hence, it will be interesting to see how Joburg Super Kings use him in the upcoming season.

This is not the first replacement that JSK has made this season. They have been marred by several injuries and players with prior commitments. As a result, they signed Matthew de Villiers as a replacement for Brandon King. Following that, Jarren Bacher arrived in for Reece Topley till Dec 31. And Jorich van Schalkwyk had stepped in for James Vince till January 5.
