Shardul Thakur, born on October 16, 1991, is a well-known name among cricket fans worldwide. With his outstanding on-field achievements, right-handed bowler Thakur has left an enduring impression in both domestic and international cricket. Early Career

Thakur played for the Mumbai side in a number of domestic competitions before rising to fame in the sport of cricket. Thakur showed his talent and tenacity on the field, earning his spot in the Mumbai squad despite early criticism for his lack of height and weight.

His big break came in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy final, where he was crucial to Mumbai’s victory against Saurashtra, taking eight wickets to help his side to its 41st Ranji Trophy victory. Thakur gained notoriety and cleared the path for his international debut because to his reliable performances in domestic cricket.

Several significant events throughout Thakur’s international career stand out, including his 2017 Indian cricket team debut against Sri Lanka. Thakur, who is well-known for his ability to perform under pressure, has been instrumental in a number of games, frequently using his bowling abilities to swing the balance in India’s advantage. In November 2022, ahead of the 2023 season, Thakur was traded to Kolkata Knight Riders in exchange for Aman Khan. This move secured him a staggering deal of ₹10.75 crore (US$1.3 million), reflecting his high value in the cash-rich tournament and the expectations for his performance in the upcoming season.

Following a brief stay with the Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals, Thakur returned to the Chennai Super Kings at the IPL 2024 mini-auction. By paying Rs 4 crore for his services, the franchise expressed their belief in his potential and acknowledged his value to the group’s accomplishments.

Shardul Thakur had a mixed IPL 2024 season with Chennai Super Kings, taking six wickets across nine matches. His standout performances included 2/61 against RCB and 1/12 against PBKS. However, he struggled with consistency, often conceding high runs.
