CSK New Comer Anshul Kamboj Joins India Squad Ahead of 4th Test vs England

Fast bowler Anshul Kamboj, a rising star from Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has been added to the India Test squad as a cover for Arshdeep Singh, who is currently nursing a minor injury. The upcoming 4th Test match between India and England is scheduled to begin on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Arshdeep, who was expected to play a key role, suffered a cut on his bowling arm during a practice session. As a precaution, the selectors have brought in Anshul Kamboj, who has been making headlines with his performances both in domestic cricket and the IPL.

Anshul recently impressed in the India A tour of England, picking up five wickets and scoring a solid half-century in the unofficial Tests against England Lions. His all-round show caught the attention of selectors, and with Arshdeep unavailable, Kamboj was the natural choice for a backup.

A Year of Ultimate Hardwork and Performances Secure Anshul Kamboj a place in the India Squad

The 24-year-old seamer from Haryana had a memorable IPL 2025 season with CSK, where he took eight wickets in eight matches at an average of 21.50 and an economy of 8. Bought for INR 3.40 crore, Kamboj showed great promise with the ball and proved to be a valuable addition to the CSK squad.

Earlier this year, he made history in the Ranji Trophy, becoming just the third bowler ever to take all 10 wickets in a single innings. Playing for Haryana, he registered jaw-dropping figures of 10/49 against Kerala, placing him in an elite list alongside Premangshu Chatterjee and Pradeep Sunderam.

Born on December 6, 2000, in Karna, Haryana, Kamboj is a seam-bowling all-rounder. In his first-class career, he has taken 79 wickets at an average of 22.88, along with two five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul. He also has 74 wickets across List A and T20 cricket.

With his ability to bowl consistently and bat lower down the order, Anshul brings balance and energy to any squad. His selection is a proud moment not only for him but also for CSK and domestic cricket fans in India. Now, all eyes will be on whether he gets a chance to make his India Test debut at Old Trafford.
