CSK have signed medium pacer Kuldip Yadav as a replacement for the injured left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. He debuted in the league back in 2021 for Rajasthan Royals and has played 3 matches so far.
Yadav has not featured in IPL for 3 years, having last played for RR in 2023.
Injuries and replacements – A routine in the CSK camp
Injuries and replacements have turned into a recurring cycle for Chennai Super Kings this IPL campaign. Many key players have succumbed to injuries with the likes of Ayush Mhatre, Khaleel Ahamed, Ramakrishna Ghosh and Jamie Overton. Despite injuries the franchise managed to find suitable replacements and were able to set up the right combinations in the playing 11. This has helped Chennai find the right rhythm and win matches continuously. But the team has not faced this once or twice, instead multiple instances this season.
The repeated replacements may disrupt the team’s balance, with new players needing time to settle into their roles. As the play-off is nearing, the franchise must ensure stability and maintain the momentum throughout the campaign.
Who is Kuldip Yadav
Kuldip Yadav is a left arm medium pacer from Delhi. Previously representing Rajasthan Royals from 2021 to 2023, he had an ordinary IPL stint with taking 2 wickets in 3 matches while maintaining an expensive economy rate of 9.33.
With very little experience in IPL and in other domestic leagues, he is not known much to the cricketing world. Will he have a breakthrough with CSK this season and rise to prominence is standing as a question mark.
