Faf du Plessis’ Dream to Conquer MLC 2024 Shattered, TSK Lose to SFU by 10-runs in a Nail-biter

In a thrilling encounter at the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024, the San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) defeated the Texas Super Kings (TSK) by a narrow margin of 10 runs. Despite a valiant effort from Faf du Plessis-led TSK, SFU’s first innings total of 200/6 proved just enough to secure the win in a match that went down to the wire.

With this Texas Super Kings’ dream campaign came to an end having not won an MLC title in 2 years despite being the tournament favourites in both the seasons.

MLC 2024: Finn Allen Proved out to be Too Strong for TSK, Despite Good Start Super Kings Fell Just Short

San Francisco Unicorns set the stage with a commanding total of 200/6 in their allotted 20 overs. The highlight of the innings was Finn Allen’s remarkable century. Allen scored a magnificent 101 off 53 balls, anchoring the innings and smashing the TSK bowlers with countless boundaries.

Supporting Allen, Josh Inglis played a crucial knock of 37 off 25 balls, ensuring SFU reached a formidable total. Among the bowlers, Noor Ahmad stood out for TSK, claiming 3 wickets for 27 runs in his 4 overs. Mohammad Mohsin also contributed with a tight spell, taking 1 wicket for 37 runs.

In response, Texas Super Kings started their chase with determination. Devon Conway and Joshua Tromp led the charge with valuable contributions. Conway scored 62 off 38 balls, while Tromp added 56 off 36 balls. Their efforts kept TSK in contention throughout the innings.

As the match approached its end, TSK needed 18 runs off the final over. Despite some innovative and aggressive batting from Tromp, who had earlier smashed boundaries off Pat Cummins and Haris Rauf, TSK fell short. Tromp’s scoop shots and Conway’s consistent striking kept the ‘Yellove’ fans on the edge of their seats.

However, SFU’s bowlers held their nerve in the death overs. Juanoy Drysdale and Hassan Khan were instrumental, with Drysdale taking 2 wickets for 33 runs and Khan conceding just 25 runs in his 4 overs. Haris Rauf and Pat Cummins, despite being expensive, managed to restrict the runs in crucial moments.

For TSK, the loss was a hard pill to swallow, especially for captain Faf du Plessis, whose dream of conquering MLC 2024 took a hit. Yet, the performance exhibited resilience and fighting spirit, promising more thrilling encounters in the future of Major Cricket League.
