“He treats me like a…”: Deepak Chahar reveals why he always gets scolded by skipper MS Dhoni

White-ball cricket’s one of the most celebrated swing bowlers, Deepak Chahar, is now out of action for Team India due to injury. CSK bowler Deepak Chahar, who has excelled in shorter formats, particularly while Dhoni served as captain in the IPL, is making a full recovery. His performances were crucial in helping Chennai win their fifth IPL championship this season. However, Chahar has consistently worried about injuries. He missed the first half of IPL 2023 due to a hamstring problem, and the entire 2022 IPL season due to a back injury.

Chahar idolizes Dhoni, who is frequently seen by spectators calling out the bowler during games. Chahar clarified this scenario in an interview with Sports Tak.

I am Dhoni Bhai’s love: CSK Bowler Deepak Chahar reveals his equation with Skipper MS Dhoni

“Dhoni is my elder brother,” Chahar shared with Sports Tak. “I am Dhoni Bhai’s love. Everyone has a different way of showing love. I consider him my elder brother and he is my idol. I have learned a lot from him and he treats me like a younger brother. For the elder brother, his younger brother always remains small and never grows up. And that’s why I get scolded. The relationship between me and Mahi Bhai is very strong and I consider myself very lucky.”

Chahar has entered the business realm in addition to his cricket career by establishing his sports brand, “D Nine Sports.” The company sells reasonably priced caps, t-shirts, and sneakers with a focus on aspiring cricketers. Chahar emphasized that the company serves those who cannot afford expensive equipment, reducing injuries from poor gear.

Chahar is not currently a member of the ODI World Cup roster despite his accomplishments, which include being a member of the 2018 Asia Cup winning team. Chahar has amazing statistics: 16 wickets in 13 ODI matches, 29 wickets in 24 T20 matches, and 72 wickets in 73 IPL games. He is eager to rehabilitate and get back on the field. He debuted in the ODI and T20 formats in 2018 and the IPL in 2016.
