IND vs SL: Pathirana Picks 4-fer in Maiden Match Against India

IND vs SL: Young pacer Matheesha Pathirana was the standout performer for hosts Sri Lanka in the opening T20I against India at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. While most of the Sri Lankan bowlers struggled, Pathirana managed to restrict the damage with an impressive four-wicket haul. He finished with figures of 4/40 in his four overs, as India posted a formidable 213/7.

Pathirana’s spell was crucial for Sri Lanka. His first victim was Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who had blasted a fiery 58. This wicket was a significant relief for the hosts. Pathirana then excelled in the death overs, dismissing key players like Hardik Pandya (9) and Riyan Parag (7), who couldn’t make much impact. The well-set Rishabh Pant, who scored 49, was his final victim of the day. Despite Pathirana’s efforts, he didn’t receive much support from his teammates, who were unable to contain the Indian batsmen effectively.
