India vs England: Shivam Dube Fifty and Pandya’s Partnership Help India Seal T20 Series

CSK’s Shivam Dube made an immaculate comeback in the T20I, scoring a match-winning fifty. Playing his first match after almost half a year in the shortest format of the game, Dube made it count with a 30-ball fifty in the 4th IND vs ENG T20I in Pune. All-rounder Hardik Pandya also delivered a powerful performance, scoring a blistering 53 off just 30 balls. Shivam Dube fifty and the 87-run partnership with Hardik Pandya guided India to a respectable total of 181/9 in the fourth T20I against England.

Courtesy of Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya’s performances, India beat England by 15 runs in the fourth T20I at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Friday to clinch the series 3-1. Moreover, concussion substitute Harshit Rana (3/33) was the pick of the bowlers for India with three wickets.

India’s innings got off to a shaky start, losing three wickets in the second over itself. However, a crucial 87-run partnership between Pandya and Shivam Dube revived the innings. Dube, who was a late replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy, played a crucial role, scoring a quickfire 53 off 34 balls. Shivam Dube fifty in Pune was is fourth in this format.

Pandya, initially slow to get going, exploded in the 17th over, unleashing a barrage of powerful shots against Jofra Archer. He showcased his incredible hitting power, clearing the ropes four times and finding the boundary four times. The highlight of his innings was a breathtaking no-look six off Jamie Overton, where he didn’t even bother to look at the ball as it sailed over long-on.

Dube also played a significant role, taking on the England bowlers aggressively. He particularly targeted Adil Rashid, hitting him for several sixes, helping India recover from a disastrous start. However, During his comeback innings, Shivam Dube was struck on his head by a Jamie Overton bouncer, and it led to him getting replaced by Harshit Rana as a concussion substitute on his T20I debut.

Earlier, England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first, a rare occurrence in the series. However, the Indian lower order, led by Pandya and Dube, ensured that India posted a competitive total despite losing wickets at regular intervals. This partnership proved crucial in putting pressure back on England and setting up an exciting finish to the match.
