MLC 2025, TSK vs SO Highlights: Collective Performances by Milne, Du Plessis, Help Super Kings Secure 51-run Win

MLC 2025, TSK vs SO Highlights: The Texas Super Kings delivered a commanding performance on Saturday evening, securing a comfortable 51-run victory over the Seattle Orcas. This crucial win significantly boosts their hopes of finishing in the top two of the league stage.

After being asked to bat first, the Super Kings got off to a quick start. Smit Patel showed immediate aggression in the opening over, cracking three boundaries off Sikandar Raza. While he was kept in check for a bit after that, he played his part before falling in the powerplay. Run scoring was a bit challenging initially, and Sai Teja Mukkamalla’s early run out added some pressure, with our total reaching only 53 runs in the first eight overs.

Captain Faf du Plessis Leads from the Front; Ranjane Supports to Reach 180+ Mark

However, captain, Faf du Plessis, then took charge. He made excellent use of his start and began to accelerate against Cameron Gannon in the 12th over. He brought up his fifty with a well-placed boundary and then pulled a massive six. Kyle Mayers and Jessy Singh also faced the brunt of his attack, with Mayers being hit for two sixes in the 14th over.

Du Plessis found strong support from Shubham Ranjane, who maintained the aggression after a slightly slow start to his innings. In a selfless move, Faf, who was struggling to find the big hits in the latter part of his innings despite being on 91, strategically retired himself out before the final over. By then, he and Ranjane had forged a blazing 130-run partnership, with both reaching their half-centuries, setting the stage for our strong total of 188 for 4.

MLC 2025, TSK vs SO Highlights: Texas Super Kings Dominate Orcas with Milne’s Five-Wicket Haul

In response, our bowlers were exceptional. While Kyle Mayers started cautiously for the Orcas, Adam Milne quickly dismantled their top order. He cleaned up David Warner for just 9 runs and then dismissed Shayan Jahangir for a duck in the fifth over, initiating the Orcas’ slide. Their familiar batting struggles reappeared as they found it difficult to keep up with the required scoring rate and lost wickets at regular intervals.

Mayers attempted a counterattack after the twin dismissals, but similar efforts from other Orcas batsmen proved unproductive. Our spin duo of Akeal Hosein and Noor Ahmad maintained tight control through the middle overs, each picking up two crucial wickets.

Although Shimron Hetmyer managed to hit a couple of boundaries and a six off Donovan Ferreira in the 12th over, and Harmeet Singh struck two sixes off Marcus Stoinis in the 15th, these were isolated moments. The game was firmly in TSK’s control, and the Orcas eventually folded for 137, with Adam Milne returning to clean up the tail and complete a brilliant five-wicket haul.
