In a rain-shortened five-over thriller in Lauderhill, TSK showcased their power hitting and disciplined bowling, proving their strong playoff credentials.

With their regular captain Faf du Plessis sidelined due to a minor injury, Marcus Stoinis stepped up to lead the Super Kings. He also opened the batting alongside Daryl Mitchell. When Mitchell decided to retire out at the end of the third over, with TSK at 34/1, it turned out to be a brilliant decision.

Ranjane continued his impressive form, finding the boundaries with two fours and a six in the penultimate over. Ferreira also cleared the ropes once in that over.

However, it was in the thrilling final over where Ferreira truly took charge, hitting a hat-trick of sixes off Mitchell Owen, followed by another huge one. Super Kings Soar into Top Two with Dominant Win Over Washington Freedom

Defending 88 runs in just five overs was a big task, but the Texas Super Kings’ bowlers rose to the occasion. Even though Washington Freedom’s Rachin Ravindra started the chase with a four and a six, the Super Kings quickly halted their momentum. Nandre Burger was outstanding, removing both Ravindra and Glenn Maxwell in back-to-back deliveries, dealing a huge blow to Freedom’s chase.

Akeal Hosein then bowled a brilliant over, which started with a six but quickly turned around with five dot balls and another crucial wicket. Noor Ahmed and Hosein then bowled tight overs to finish the game, ensuring Washington Freedom could only manage 44/4.

This commanding 43-run win was a testament to the Texas Super Kings’ depth and their ability to perform under pressure. This victory now sees the top three teams in the league all on 12 points, setting up an exciting finish to the league stage of MLC 2025 for the Super Kings and their fans.
