MLC 2025 WAF vs TSK Highlights: Super Kings Bowlers Fail to Defend 220 against Freedom

Texas Super Kings batted first and put up a very strong total of 220 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Captain Faf du Plessis led the charge with an excellent 69 runs off just 31 balls, hitting 8 fours and 4 sixes. Smit Patel scored a quick 24 at the start. Later, Marcus Stoinis added 32 runs and Milind Kumar contributed 31 runs, helping push the total high. For Washington Freedom, Mitchell Owen was the star bowler, picking up 3 wickets for 33 runs, while Glenn Maxwell also took 2 wickets for 35 runs.

Washington Freedom then began their chase of 221 runs, which looked like a tough target. However, their batters showed great skill and determination. Mitchell Owen, opening the innings, played a fantastic knock, scoring 89 runs off 52 balls. He found great support from Andries Gous, who remained unbeaten with a brilliant 80 runs off just 45 balls. Glenn Maxwell also chipped in with a quick 20 runs. Together, they made the high chase look comfortable.

Lest Adam Milne’s Efforts, Back-to-Back Losses Raise Concern for Super Kings

Texas Super Kings tried hard to defend their score, with Adam Milne taking 3 wickets for 42 runs. But the strong batting performance from Washington Freedom, especially from Owen and Gous, ensured they reached the target with two balls to spare, finishing at 223 for 3 in 19.4 overs.

Texas Super Kings put up a huge score, but their bowlers couldn’t hold Washington Freedom back. Despite Adam Milne taking three wickets, TSK’s attack lacked a crucial breakthrough, especially with Mitchell Owen and Andries Gous playing explosive knocks. Dropped catches and a slightly easier pitch under lights also didn’t help TSK’s cause in defending their big total.
