Texas Super Kings batted first and put up a very strong total of 220 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Captain Faf du Plessis led the charge with an excellent 69 runs off just 31 balls, hitting 8 fours and 4 sixes. Smit Patel scored a quick 24 at the start. Later, Marcus Stoinis added 32 runs and Milind Kumar contributed 31 runs, helping push the total high. For Washington Freedom, Mitchell Owen was the star bowler, picking up 3 wickets for 33 runs, while Glenn Maxwell also took 2 wickets for 35 runs.
