Ravindra Jadeja set to miss 3rd Test against England: Reports

Ravindra Jadeja Milestones to Watch Out for in 2024

Ravindra Jadeja, one of India’s most dependable all-rounders in all formats of the game, is eyeing several records this year. As India hosts England for the ongoing bilateral five-test series, the talented southpaw is expected to create several new records.

Jadeja’s performance with both bat and ball has always been sublime in home matches.

Even his 87 in India’s first innings at Stumps on day two of the first test, chasing England’s 246 at Hyderabad, is set to be crucial in deciding the fate of the match. Besides, his 3 for 88 in bowling created quite a ripple in the English middle order, including the prized wicket of Joe Root at 29.

This is just the beginning of the things that are yet to come from our own Chennai Super King’s stalwart. And, here we provide you with a list of all the achievements that Jadeja can reach in the year, in test cricket.

Ravindra Jadeja’s 3000 Test Runs

Ravindra Jadeja, with 2804 runs already in his kitty, just needs 196 more runs to accomplish 3000 runs. However, at the time of writing this article, Jadeja was playing at 81* at stumps on day two of the 1st test between India Vs England. So, he needs another 100+ odd runs to achieve the feat. He’ll do it sooner than later.

Whenever Jadeja achieves the 3000-run mark, he’ll become only the third Indian after Kapil Dev and Ashwin to claim over 250+ test wickets and accumulate 3000+ test runs.

In his 15 years of international cricket career, the 35-year-old has 275 test wickets and around 2900* (as of Jan 26th) test runs to his credit, including 3 tons and 19 fifties and 12 fifers.

Ravindra Jadeja’s 200 Test Wickets at Home

Jaddu just needs three more wickets to claim 200 test wickets at home. Before him, only four Indian bowlers have achieved the feat.

The illustrious list includes legendary bowlers like Ashwin (337), Kapil Dev (219), Anil Kumble (350), and Harbhajan Singh (265). All these bowlers have picked more than 200 wickets at home.

Moreover, Jadeja has been extremely lethal at home. His 10 five-wicket hauls (out of 12 fifers) have come on Indian soil, showcasing his excellent bowling at Indian venues.

Jadeja completes 100 International Wickets Vs England (All Formats)

Coming to Jadeja’s performance against the English side, it has been phenomenal. He has 97* (as on Jan 26th) international wickets to his credit against England.

It is his second-best to Australia, against which the superstar all-rounder’s wicket tally stands at 134.

As soon as Ravindra Jadeja claims three more wickets against England, he’ll become only the fourth Indian to achieve the feat. Only Kumble (117), Ashwin (124), and Kapil Dev (113) have taken more wickets against England across formats than Jaddu.

550+ International Wickets Across All Formats for Jadeja

Exactly, just a day back, Jaddu created another milestone, scalping his 551st international wicket against England. He now becomes the seventh Indian to repeat the feat.

Others on the list include the likes of Anil Kumble (953), R Ashwin (721), Harbhajan Singh (707), Kapil Dev (687), Zaheer Khan (597), and Javagal Srinath (551).

Considering Jadeja’s spectacular form and availability for all formats, he is likely to climb up the list within a few years.

550+ Wickets & 6000+ Runs Double

Besides his unflinching commitment to India’s spin department, Jaddu’s contribution with the bat has also won many matches across formats.

Ravindra Jadeja, with 6000+ runs and 550+ wickets, is just the second Indian after the legend Kapil Dev to complete the international double of 6k runs and more than 550 wickets. It demonstrates the left-arm-all-rounder’s exceptional performance on a consistent basis.

Conclusion

For a long time, India had been searching for a reliable all-rounder across formats. India’s search stopped at Ravindra Jadeja. Over the last one and a half decades, Jadeja has continued to impress everyone with his outstanding batting and bowling. It shows how the left-arm spinner dominates India’s spin and lower middle order in batting.

With just 900 runs away from reaching the 7000 runs across formats, and plenty of cricket left in him, there’s no doubt that Jadeja is likely to emerge as one of India’s most potent all-rounders in the history of the game in recent times.

Most of his accomplishments and records are likely to be registered in the ongoing series against England in the five-match test series. So, just wait and watch! And keep rooting for Sir Jadeja. He is sublime, supreme, and spontaneous. Owing to his marvelous form, Jaddu is set to create many more records and solidify them in the history of the game soon.
