Sameer Rizvi made a spectacular debut in the IPL 2024 for the Chennai Super Kings by smashing a massive six off Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan on his very first ball. Batting ahead of experienced players like MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in the 19th over, Rizvi showcased immense confidence and talent. Securing an impressive Rs 8.4 crore deal in the auction, Rizvi’s aggressive batting style was on full display as he struck two sixes in his first four deliveries.
Facing one of the world’s finest T20 bowlers in Rashid Khan, Rizvi executed a perfect sweep to send the ball sailing over the boundary, claiming 14 runs off the over. His stellar performance in the Uttar Pradesh T20 league had already garnered attention, but his IPL debut marked his arrival at the elite level of cricket.

Chennai Super Kings had an amazing day with the bat in hand. They came off the trenches with intent on their mind and the same was visible in the fashion in which Ravindra and Gaikwad approached the game. Both the openers scored 46 runs at the start of the inning. Together they added 62 runs in just 5.1 overs. Later, it was Shivan Dube who got going with his huge sixes and smashed a fifty in just 22 balls before being departed for 51.
In his short inning of 23 balls, Dube smashed 5 sixes and 2 fours to keep the scoreboard ticketing during the middle overs of this team’s inning. Towards the end, it was Rizvi, batting in his first inning for Chennai Super Kings who got the team close to a comprehensive total of 200.

During the auction, franchises engaged in aggressive bidding for Rizvi, with CSK eventually securing his services for a whopping Rs 8.40 crore after a heated bidding war with the Gujarat Titans. Rizvi’s cameo, along with excellent contributions from Shivam Dube, Rachin Ravindra, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, helped CSK post a commanding total of 206/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
