Uttar Pradesh cricketer Sameer Rizvi, who secured a million-dollar deal with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the previous Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions, demonstrated his remarkable skills by scoring a triple century during the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy quarter-finals on Monday.
In a face-off against Saurashtra, Rizvi played a stellar innings, smashing an impressive 312 runs in just 266 balls. His innings included an astonishing 33 fours and 12 sixes, showcasing his powerful batting style at a strike rate of 117.29.
CSK acquired Rizvi for a hefty sum of Rs 8.4 crore, recognizing his exceptional power-hitting abilities. In the UPT20 league last year, Rizvi had a stellar performance, amassing 455 runs in 10 matches with an average of over 50. He also recorded two centuries and a fifty, displaying a remarkable strike rate of over 188. In T20s for UP, he accumulated 295 runs in 11 matches at an average of 49.16 and a strike rate of over 134, including two fifties.
Apart from T20s, Rizvi has represented UP in other formats as well. In seven First-class matches, he scored 96 runs in 10 innings, and in 11 List-A games, he made 205 runs in nine innings.
UP 23 team scored 746 runs against Saurashtra
In the ongoing match, Uttar Pradesh posted a formidable total of 746 runs in their first innings. This remarkable score was achieved through contributions from various players, including Rizvi’s triple century, Rituraj Sharma’s century (132), Siddharth Yadav’s 84, and Swastik’s 57.
Adityasingh Jadeja stood out as the standout bowler for Saurashtra, claiming 5 wickets for 102 runs. Saurashtra ended day two at 32/2. It’s important to note that the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy is a competition for U23-level players at the state level.
