Shivam Dube wins first Man of Series award for India

Young Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube was ecstatic after being bestowed with the prestigious ‘Man of the Series’ award in recognition of his stellar performances in India’s 3-0 series triumph over Afghanistan.

Dube’s standout innings featured a spectacular 60-run knock off 40 balls at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, followed by an unbeaten 63 off just 32 balls that played a pivotal role in India’s series victory. Demonstrating his all-around capabilities, Dube amassed a total of 124 runs and contributed with two crucial wickets over the course of the series.

During the post-match presentation, the elated Dube shared his joy, emphasizing the significance of winning the award as an all-rounder. “Definitely a wonderful series, you dream of winning this award as an all-rounder, happy to have achieved it,” he remarked, acknowledging the special moment ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024. Despite the pressure, Dube highlighted the intense competition and sportsmanship displayed by both teams.

Dube’s impact extended beyond his batting prowess; he actively used the series to refine his bowling skills. “There are many aspects to work on, got to bowl in these three matches, I’ve learnt many things,” he stated, underscoring his commitment to enhancing his all-round game. His dedication and hard work paid dividends, making the series against Afghanistan a memorable chapter in his career and setting a high standard for his future performances.

The young all-rounder has experienced a notable resurgence in his international career, marking a stark turnaround from a subdued start. Consistently showcasing form with back-to-back half-centuries in the current home T20I series against Afghanistan, Dube has firmly asserted his presence on the international stage.

Noteworthy is Dube’s active contribution with the ball, securing two crucial wickets in both encounters against Afghanistan. His commendable bowling form was evident even before the T20I series, as exemplified by his standout performances in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy opener against Bihar in Patna.
