Who is Steve Stolk?
Steve Stolk is a South African cricketer, recently bought by Joburg Super Kings in the SA20 auction for a price of R 200,00. He is a cricketing prodigy who broke onto the U-19 scene in 2024, where he showcased exceptional batting skills. His entry into cricket happened through a local team in Pretoria.
Reports claim that the player had scored around 1000 runs in local tournaments around the city. His strike rate in those tournaments was over 200. These great performances caught the eyes of the regional selectors, eventually leading to his inclusion in the Under-19 side.
Stolk Breaks Pant’s record of fastest fifty
In an Under-19 game against Scotland, Stolk smashed 50 runs from just 13 balls, breaking the previous record of an 18-ball fifty, which Indian maestro Rishabh Pant set.
The then 17-year-old went on to score 87 runs from just 37 balls, in the game, helping South Africa complete a comfortable chase of 270 runs in just 27 overs.
Overall, the player played in 10 under-19 games in which he scored 408 runs at an average of 40 and a strike rate of 138. He has scored the most runs against India, by smashing 129 runs in 3 innings at an average of 43.
Stolk in SA20
Following his great performance at the Under-19 level, he was made a part of the Pretoria Capitals side in the SA20 2025. In the third season of the marquee tournament, he got only three chances and failed to impress.
In the three games he played for the Capitals, Stolk was only able to score 21 runs, with 13 being his highest score in those games.

In the 2025 Auction, Joburg Super Kings saw immense potential in the player and decided to buy him in the auction. The Faf-du Plessis-led side paid a total of R 200K for the player’s services.
Stolk is just 19 years old and has massive potential to work upon. Apart from being a batter with explosive batting abilities, he can also roll over his hands and bowl if the need might arise.
