The Texas Super Kings (TSK) have bolstered their squad for the upcoming Major League Cricket (MLC) season by securing the services of New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell. Mitchell, already a key figure in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lineup in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was acquired by TSK following an impressive bid of INR 14 crore at the 2024 mini-auction.
Despite a brief setback due to injury, which sidelined him during the T201 series against Australia, Mitchell has since recovered and is primed to make his mark in the upcoming season, both for TSK in the MLC and CSK in the IPL. Excited about the opportunity, Mitchell expressed his enthusiasm, particularly to reunite with the CSK family, stating, “I’m really excited to be part of the Texas Super Kings and to get to yellove again and be part of the CSK family.”
Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner will be joining Mitchell
Joining Mitchell in TSK will be his national teammates Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner, adding further depth and talent to the franchise’s roster. With TSK making it to the second qualifier in the inaugural MLC edition, the addition of Mitchell and company aims to propel them to greater heights in the upcoming season.
The MLC has witnessed other significant overseas acquisitions, with Michael Bracewell and Matt Short joining the Seattle Orcas and the San Francisco Unicorns, respectively. These signings reflect the growing international appeal and competitiveness of the MLC, attracting top talents from around the globe.
Looking ahead, Mitchell acknowledged the unique opportunity presented by the MLC’s location following the World Cup in the West Indies and America, highlighting the potential for similar playing conditions. Embracing the challenge, he expressed his determination to adapt and contribute to TSK’s success in the upcoming season.
As the MLC continues to gain momentum and prominence on the cricketing landscape, the signings of players like Daryl Mitchell underscore the league’s commitment to delivering high-quality cricket and fostering a vibrant global cricketing community.
