The first episode of the “The Making of…” The Chennai Super Kings series is finally out. And it features none other than our beloved Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Titled “The Making of Ruturaj Gaikwad,” the episode features Gaikwad’s cricketing journey.

What is the Making of Ruturaj Gaikwad CSK series about?

It takes one back to the early 2000s, when Ruturaj was still just a small kid trying to understand the game. Beginning with the narration by Rutu’s father, we learn that he started playing at a very tender age.

Firstly, his parents helped him understand the dynamics of the game. Later, he started practicing in a field, where others used to admire him.

Watching Ruturaj practice with a hard leather ball and still manage to connect and time his shots, people started calling him “Chhota Tendulkar.” We also see some newspaper clippings that his father has collected over the years that call Gaikwad the “Chhota Tendulkar” of Sangvi.

Following this, the episode details his cricketing journey in particular. We learn that Gaikwad has represented Maharashtra at every age level. However, he was not able to make it to the India Under-19 Squad. We are also told about how he broke his finger ahead of his Ranji debut.

The last segment of the episode is dedicated to Ruturaj’s journey in the Chennai Super Kingsteam. It describes how he became an integral part of the team and eventually its captain.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a revelation at the top of the order for Chennai Super Kings. His elegant stroke play, impeccable timing, and ability to pace an innings make him a vital cog in CSK’s batting unit.

Since making his debut for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2020, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a vital cog in the team’s batting lineup. In 52 matches for CSK, he has amassed 1797 runs at an impressive average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 135.52.

His breakout season came in 2021, where he scored 635 runs in 16 matches, winning the Orange Cap and helping CSK secure their fourth IPL title.
