TSK vs WAF, MLC 2024: Captain Faf du Plessis played a sensational innings, scoring a 58-ball 100 to take Texas Super Kings to a formidable 203/5 in their 20 overs. However, rain stopped what promised to be an exciting chase by Washington Freedom, resulting in the two teams sharing the two points.

Coming off with a loss to LA Knight Riders just two days prior, the Super Kings were determined to make a strong start in their second match of the season. Du Plessis and his opening partner, Devon Conway, set the tone with a remarkable 109-run partnership in just 10.2 overs. The South African skipper led from the front, dismantling the bowling attack with a flooding of boundaries. Contributing 39 runs to the partnership before being dismissed, Conway provided solid support.

Du Plessis’ innings featured 12 fours and five sixes, showcasing his aggressive intent and excellent shot selection. He was eventually dismissed in the 19th over, but by then, the Super Kings had amassed 203/5, marking the season’s first 200-plus total.

Washington Freedom’s chase got off to a flying start, with Travis Head and Steve Smith demonstrating their intent right from the beginning. The duo raced to 62/0 in just four overs, making a strong statement against the challenging target. Smith led the charge initially, combining with Head to take 17 runs off the second over from Naveen-ul-Haq.

Head had a lucky escape when Dwayne Bravo dropped a catch at mid-on, and he capitalized on this reprieve by punishing Aaron Hardie in the fourth over. Head smashed two fours and two sixes, both of which sailed over deep square leg, showcasing his aggressive stroke play.

Unfortunately, rain intervened just as the fifth over was about to start, allowing only one no-ball delivery before the players were forced to leave the ground. The weather stopped the play, and no further play was possible. As a result, both teams had to settle for a point each, leaving the MLC cricket match with no winner.
