WATCH | Ajinkya Rahane, Rachin Ravindra pull off splendid relay catch to dismiss big fish Virat Kohli

In the exciting IPL 2024 opener on Friday, March 22, there was a moment of sheer brilliance that had cricket fans everywhere on the edge of their seats. It was a showdown between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The match was packed with thrilling moments, but one particular catch stole the spotlight.

It all happened during the 12th over of the first innings, when RCB’s captain and star batsman Virat Kohli was at the crease. Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman, bowling for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), delivered a clever slower ball. Kohli, aiming to send the ball sailing over deep mid-wicket, swung his bat with all his might. However, he couldn’t quite get the timing right, and the ball ended up skying towards the boundary.

Check out the video here:

Ajinkya Rahane, stationed at deep mid-wicket, sprinted to his right, never taking his eyes off the ball. With remarkable agility, he managed to get his hands to it just before it crossed the boundary rope. But here’s where the magic truly unfolded – as Rahane approached the boundary, he executed a perfect slide and flicked the ball back into play.

Rachin calmly pouched the ball, completing a jaw-dropping catch that left everyone in awe. This incredible teamwork between Rahane and Rachin not only sent Kohli packing but also electrified the atmosphere of the stadium.

Mustafizur Rahman, riding high on the momentum of this spectacular catch, continued to wreak havoc on RCB’s batting lineup. He claimed the wickets of Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar in quick succession, tilting the match in CSK’s favor.

Meanwhile, RCB’s promising start, led by Faf du Plessis’ aggressive batting, fizzled out as Mustafizur’s cunning variations took center stage. Deepak Chahar joined the party by dismissing Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck, further denting RCB’s hopes.
