Recently, former Indian bowler Harbhajan Singh talked about his personal relationships with players during his playing days both on the field and off the field. He also revealed that he is not a good friend of the former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
There have been lot of news about their precarious relationship for a long time but nothing was officially on the table but suddenly Harbhajan spoke about his former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper and the controversies behind his decision to not having any chat for more than 10 years.
“I have no reason, perhaps he does,” says Harbhajan Singh
During his recent interview with CricketNext, the off-spinner hinted that Mahendra Singh Dhoni might have some reason to not having any proper chat with him as he believes. He also said that there is no such thing for him towards the former Indian skipper.
“No, I don’t speak to Dhoni. When I was playing at CSK, that’s when we spoke, but otherwise, we haven’t spoken. It’s been 10 years and more. I have no reason; perhaps he does. I don’t know what the reasons are. When we were playing in the IPL at CSK, that’s when we used to talk, and that, too, was restricted to the ground. After that, he did not come to my room, nor did I go to his,” he said.
They have been part of many memorable moments together apart from their CSK days like T20 World winning campaign of 2007 and the 50-overs World Cup victory in 2011.
I have nothing against Mahendra Singh Dhoni: Harbhajan
Harbhajan expressed that he tried to speak Dhoni many a times but didn’t get any reply from the latter so he decided to refrain himself from doing so.
“I don’t have anything against him. If he has something to say, he can tell me. But if he did, he would have told me by now. I never tried to call him because I have a lot of passion. I only ring up those who pick up my calls. I don’t have the time otherwise. I stay in touch with the ones I am friends with. A relationship is always about give and take. If I respect you, I hope you will respect me back. Or you respond to me. But if I call you once or twice but don’t get a response, I will probably only meet you as much as I am needed to,” he added in the same interaction.
Notably, Harbhajan Singh was part of the Chennai based Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise from 2018 to 2020 but their talks were limited to the on-field talks about the game.
