Ashwin Steps Back from CSK Discussions on His YouTube Channel Amid Criticism

Veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently announced that he will no longer be discussing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) games during IPL 2025. In a statement on his YouTube channel, Ashwin explained that his decision was based on the recent nature of discussions surrounding CSK matches. He mentioned that one of the panelists had criticized the CSK management for preferring Afghanistan’s left-arm chinaman bowler, Noor Ahmad, over Indian players like Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin himself.

Ashwin clarified that he wanted to avoid any misinterpretations and ensure that the discussions remained respectful and professional. He emphasized that the views expressed by the panellists were not his own and that he was stepping away from covering CSK games, including both previews and reviews, for the rest of the season. Despite this, Ashwin assured his fans that the integrity of the show would be maintained, and he would continue to promote diverse perspectives.

Non-CSK matches’ analysis to continue on Ashwin Youtube Channel

“We value the diversity of perspectives that come through on our shows and remain committed to ensuring the conversation stays true to the integrity and purpose of the platform we’ve established,” Ashwin said. He also distanced himself from any negative opinions expressed on the show, stressing that they did not reflect his personal views.

Ashwin confirmed that he would continue to analyze and discuss matches involving other IPL teams. He expressed his gratitude to fans for their thoughtful engagement with the show and assured them that “The Small Council” would keep discussing non-CSK games as usual for the rest of the season. “Looking forward to witnessing the rest of this exciting IPL season with all of you,” he added.

In response to Ashwin’s statement, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming was asked about his awareness of the discussions on Ashwin’s YouTube channel. Fleming responded that he was unaware of Ashwin YouTube channel and did not follow such discussions, saying, “That’s irrelevant. You guys are important,” suggesting that media coverage was more important to him than personal shows or opinions.

As for CSK’s performance in IPL 2025, the team has had a tough start, losing three out of their first four matches. They will next face Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 8, hoping to improve their record in the ongoing season.
