Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) sister franchise Jo’Burg Super Kings (JSK) have signed Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana. JSK announced the signing in a spectacular Undertaker-inspired reveal. Pathirana, known for his impressive yorkers in the IPL, has garnered attention not just for his bowling but also for his unique wicket celebrations. The fast bowler, who already incorporates a Cristiano Ronaldo-esque celebration after taking a wicket, adds a twist by rolling his eyes in the style of WWE legend The Undertaker. This move has thrilled cricket fans worldwide.
To mark Pathirana’s arrival, the Jo’Burg Super Kings released a video on October 2, with The Undertaker’s iconic theme song in the background. Pathirana’s growing fanbase will now get to see him in action during the SA20 tournament. Although his 2024 IPL season was cut short due to injury after playing only six matches, Pathirana still managed to take 13 wickets. His absence impacted CSK’s performance as they failed to make it to the playoffs. Now fully recovered, Pathirana aims to help JSK reach their first-ever SA20 final.

Jo’Burg Super Kings have bolstered their squad with four new signings during the SA20 auction, including Wihan Lubbe, Evan Jones, Doug Bracewell, and uncapped JP King. These additions further strengthen an already powerful team led by Faf du Plessis, which includes star players such as Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, and Devon Conway. On the bowling front, Pathirana will be supported by a group of talented bowlers, including South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee, Nandre Burger, Lizaad Williams, and the world-class spinner Tabraiz Shamsi. This combination of pace and spin gives JSK a balanced attack that can challenge any opposition.
