Tamil Actor Vijay Incurs MS Dhoni “Definitely Not” Reference In GOAT Movie Trailer, Fans Go Berserk

In his upcoming movie GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), legendary Tamil actor Vijay pays homage to India and Chennai’s favorite cricketer MS Dhoni by adding the cricketer’s trademark phrase, “definitely not.” Known as Thalapathy in Tollywood, Vijay stars alongside esteemed actors like Prabhu Deva, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashanth Thyagarajan, and Yogi Babu in this highly anticipated movie, set to release on September 5, 2024.

The trailer for GOAT was unveiled this afternoon, bringing in excitement amongst Vijay’s vast fan base. In a notable moment, Vijay’s character is seen sporting a Chennai Super Kings (CSK) jersey emblazoned with the phrase “Definitely not.” While the specific context of this reference within the film remains under wraps, its inclusion has created a buzz, drawing connections between Vijay and MS Dhoni, two celebrated figures in the southern entertainment and sports arenas.

The phrase “definitely not” gained fame when MS Dhoni used it during an IPL 2020 press conference. When asked by commentator Danny Morrison if CSK’s final group-stage match would be his last appearance, Dhoni’s emphatic response became a viral sensation on social media.

Not The First Time When Someone Else Used Dhoni’s ‘Definitely Not’ Phrase

Not the first time when someone else used Dhoni’s ‘Definitely Not’ phrase. In CSK’s final league match of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings secured a decisive victory over the Rajasthan Royals. Prior to the game, CSK had teased a special surprise for fans, urging them to stay after the match. True to their word, after the game, the players and support staff took a celebratory victory lap around Chepauk Stadium, expressing their gratitude for the unwavering support from their fans over the years.

During the post-match festivities, Thala MS Dhoni entertained the crowd by hitting tennis balls into the stands with a tennis racquet, further celebrating the fan’s support. Amidst the celebration, a commentator posed a question to Suresh Raina, the former India and CSK star, inquiring if this would be Dhoni’s final game at Chennai. Raina’s brief and witty reply, “Definitely Not,” sparked excitement among fans and hinted at the possibility of Dhoni continuing his career beyond that season.

Dhoni remains active in the IPL and may even be retained by CSK as an uncapped player for IPL 2025. His popularity and influence continue to resonate, further highlighted by this clever nod in Vijay’s film.
