Urvil Patel’s Domestic Cricket Career 

Some star players show their talent from the very beginning. Urvil Patel is one of them. 

Urvil Patel started his domestic cricket journey in January 2018, playing T20 for the team Baroda. He played his first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Mumbai and made fifty runs in 28 balls. This was just the beginning of the star in making. 

In February 2018, Urvil also made his List A debut with team Baroda against Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He made his First-Class debut in the Ranji Trophy in 2024, representing Gujarat against Tamil Nadu. 

Urvil dominated domestic cricket with his aggressive batting. His talent shone brightest in the T20 match in 2024 when he set two records of T20 centuries within 40 balls globally within a week: 

  • He made a century off 28 balls against Tripura.  
  • He made another hundred off 36 balls against Uttarakhand. 

In 2025, he yet again smashed a century off 31 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) against Services. He was the Player Of The Match and played for Gujarat.

Urvil Patel Fastest Hundred in T20s

Urvil Patel’s fastest T20 centuries came in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He blasted a record-fastest by an Indian 100 in just 28 balls against Tripura, showcasing brute power and precision.

He also hammered a near-blistering 119 off 37 balls* for Gujarat against Services, one of the quickest hundreds of the season and a match-winning knock that underlined his explosive ability in domestic T20s.

Urvil Patel in IPL 

Urvil Patel started his IPL journey back in 2023. He was part of the Gujarat Titans (GT) squad but didn’t get a chance to play back then. Prior to the 2024 IPL, he was released by the GT and remained unsold. 

However, that didn’t stop him from showing his stunning strike rate in domestic cricket. He has expressed how his time in GT helped him learn a lot and improve his game. 

In 2025, He made his IPL debut with CSK. He was offered to join the Chennai Super Kings or another team. Urvil chose CSK as he has been a CSK fan and idolized MS Dhoni. 

In CSK, he played as a mid-order batsman and wicketkeeper. In his first batting, he made a whopping 31 runs off 11 balls. In 2025, his strike rate was 212.50. 

For 2026, he is part of the Chennai Super Kings team and has a strike rate of 187.50

He continues to play for Chennai Super Kings and improve his aggressive batting with dedicated attention and practice.
