Awarding the best fielder after every match, has become a tradition for Indian cricket team, this world cup. In every group stage match, the player with most outstanding performance on the field is awarded with a medal for their valiant efforts.

Suryakumar Yadav deliver’s speech after Jadeja awarded best fielder award

Earlier, it was notice that the medal along with the name of the winner was announced in a very fancy and sometimes even dramatic fashion. However, this time it was not the case at all.

On Wednesday, according to the video put out by the official handle of Indian cricket team, the medal as presented in a simple manner. However, Suryakumar Yadav still managed to find a way to win everyone’s heart.

The Indian batter gave a speech using excerpts from the famous Bollywood movie, Bajirao Mastani. Describing the Indian cricketer, Suryakumar recited, “Cheetah ki chaal, Baaj ki nazar aur Royal Navghan ki fielding se koi nahi bach sakta (No one can escape: Cheteeh’s speed, Hawk’s vision and Royal Navghan’s fielding.)”

Jadeja was crowned as the best fielder in the game for his amazing catches under pressure. The first one came in the form of Glenn Philips who was heating up to produce another batting masterclass. Philips was caught at long on, at the score of 41 from just 33 balls.

Next victim of Sir Jadeja turned out to be Mark Chapman, who was caught at long leg while trying to sweep Kuldeep Yadav. This wicket gave Indian team a huge boost of confidence. The final nail in coffin came in the form of the catch of Daryl Mitchell.

This time standing at Mid-wicket, Jadeja took a tame catch for his standards, to dismiss the New Zealand’s centurion for the score of 134 runs from just 119 runs, to seal the deal for his side.

Phenomenal Indian bowling display

The Indian bowling attack has been dominating throughout the tournament. However, for the first time they seem to be in trouble, but that was before Mohammed Shami came into the attack.

Shami broke the entire top order single handedly by dismissing Conway and Ravindra in his first spell and later Williamson and Latham in his latter spell. With some good bowling from Bumrah and Kuldeep in support, India was able to tie the tail of New Zealand batting order. Before Shami tidied things up to make a 7-fer for himself.

India will now face Australia in the final of the ODI World Cup in Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
