In a recent Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match on February 13, English all-rounder Moeen Ali showcased an outstanding performance for Comilla Victorians against Chattogram Challengers. The match took place at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
During the 17th over of Chattogram’s run chase, Moeen Ali achieved a remarkable hat-trick by dismissing Sohidul Islam, Al-Amin Hossain, and Bilal Khan consecutively. This marked the eighth hat-trick of the T20 tournament. Overall, Ali finished his bowling spell with figures of 4/23 in 3.3 overs.
Not only did Moeen contribute significantly with the ball, but he also displayed his batting prowess by smashing 53 runs off 24 balls at a striking rate of 220.83. His innings included five sixes and two boundaries.
In the recently concluded SA20, Moeen Ali had an impressive performance for the Joburg Super Kings, taking five wickets in 11 matches with an economy rate of 8.11. With the bat, he scored 169 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 127.06.

Comilla Victorians, led by a clinical all-round display from Moeen Ali, secured a convincing 73-run victory against Chattogram Challengers. Comilla posted a formidable total of 239/3 in their allotted 20 overs, with Will Jacks remaining unbeaten on 108 off 53 balls.
Chattogram, in response, could only manage 166 runs in 16.3 overs. Despite decent contributions from Tanzid Hasan, Josh Brown, and Shykat Ali, they fell short. Moeen Ali’s exceptional performance was complemented by Rishad Hossain, who also took four wickets, and Mustafizur Rahman, who picked up two.
With this victory, Comilla Victorians climbed to the second spot in the 2024 BPL points table, while Chattogram Challengers slipped to the third position. Moeen Ali will be back in action against Khulna Tigers on February 14.
