Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu has finally spoken out against the wave of hate he’s been receiving online for openly supporting MS Dhoni during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. While Dhoni, the legendary former CSK captain, has faced criticism for his batting position and form, Rayudu has consistently stood by him on-air through his commentary on Star Sports.

“I was a Thala’s fan, I am a Thala’s fan, I will always be a Thala’s fan,” Rayudu posted. “No matter what anyone thinks or does, it will not make a one percent difference. So please stop spending money on paid PR and donate that to charity. A lot of underprivileged people can benefit.”
Rayudu’s powerful statement quickly gained attention from fans, with many praising his loyalty to Dhoni, especially during a challenging season for CSK, who are currently battling at the lower end of the points table.
However, Rayudu wasn’t just targeted by fans. Former cricketer and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu also took a playful jab at him during commentary. During CSK’s match against Punjab Kings in Chandigarh, Dhoni entered the field in the 16th over to thunderous applause. Rayudu, sitting alongside Sidhu in the commentary box, described the moment with enthusiasm, saying, “MS Dhoni is coming out with a sword, not the bat. The sword will be wielded tonight.”
Sidhu, known for his witty remarks, quickly responded, “You’re speaking like he’s not coming out to play cricket but to fight a war!” The exchange went viral, sparking further debate online, but Rayudu remained unfazed and continued his on-air support for Dhoni.
