Imran Tahir takes 500th T20 wicket, becomes fourth player to milestone

In a recent Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match between Rangpur Riders and Khulna Tigers, the 44-year-old bowler, Imran Tahir, achieved a remarkable milestone by completing 500 wickets in T20s. This feat makes him the fourth bowler to reach this impressive mark. Tahir’s outstanding performance came during the match where he played for Rangpur Riders against Khulna Tigers.

Rangpur Riders won the toss and chose to bat

During the game, Rangpur Riders, led by Nurul Hasan, won the toss and chose to bat. After the openers were dismissed by Luke Wood, Shakib Al Hasan played exceptionally well, scoring 69 runs. He formed a strong partnership of 109 runs with Mahedi Hasan, who scored 60 runs. This collaboration helped Rangpur Riders set a challenging target of 220 runs.

Imran Tahir took five crucial wickets

In the chase, Khulna Tigers struggled as Imran Tahir showcased his bowling prowess. He took five crucial wickets, dismissing Alex Hales (60), Anamul Haque (5), Afif Hossain (11), Habibur Rahman (13), and Akbar Ali (0). Tahir’s stellar performance played a pivotal role in Rangpur Riders securing a convincing 78-run victory.

With this accomplishment, Imran Tahir joined the elite group of bowlers, including Dwayne Bravo, Rashid Khan, and Sunil Narine, who have also taken 500 T20 wickets. Dwayne Bravo leads the chart with 624 wickets, followed by Rashid Khan with 556 wickets, and Sunil Narine with 532 wickets.

Following this win, Rangpur Riders currently top the BPL table with 14 points from nine games, showcasing their dominance in the tournament. In contrast, Khulna Tigers find themselves in the fifth position with eight points.

Imran Tahir’s exceptional bowling performance and Rangpur Riders’ strong batting display have made them a force to be reckoned with in the Bangladesh Premier League, creating excitement and anticipation among cricket fans.
