Chennai Super Kings’ injury troubles in IPL 2026 show no signs of slowing down, with Ramakrishna Ghosh becoming the latest player to be ruled out of the tournament. The all-rounder’s campaign has come to an abrupt end after just one appearance for the franchise.
Ghosh made his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians at Chepauk, but his outing was cut short after he sustained a fracture during the match. The incident forced him to walk off the field, raising immediate concerns about his fitness. Those fears were later confirmed by the franchise.
CSK confirm injury setback
In an official statement, CSK confirmed that Ghosh has suffered a fracture to his right foot and will take no further part in IPL 2026. The injury adds to an already growing list of absentees in the squad.
Despite the unfortunate end, Ghosh showed glimpses of his potential in his debut game. He bowled three overs for 24 runs, picking up a crucial wicket. His first IPL scalp was that of Suryakumar Yadav, a key breakthrough that highlighted his ability to deliver under pressure. He also impressed in the field with a sharp catch.
A brief but promising start
Ghosh’s journey to the IPL has been steady. Having made his domestic debut in recent years, he has built a reputation as a reliable all-rounder for Maharashtra. In List A cricket, he has picked up 21 wickets in 11 matches and scored 246 runs, including a notable 73-run knock.
While his T20 numbers are still developing, his all-round ability makes him a valuable prospect. His brief stint with CSK suggested he could have played a bigger role if given more opportunities.
Another blow for CSK
For CSK, this is yet another setback in a season already disrupted by injuries. The team has previously lost key players like Ayush Mhatre and Khaleel Ahmed, forcing constant changes in the playing XI.
Ghosh’s absence further reduces their options, particularly in terms of all-round balance. As the season progresses, CSK will once again have to reshuffle their combination and rely on squad depth to stay competitive.
