With Chennai Super Kings (CSK) now contemplating a suitable successor to Dhoni, former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta has voiced his opinion, suggesting that Delhi Capitals’ star Rishabh Pant is the ideal candidate. Pant, who has yet to make a comeback after a serious road accident in December last year, has significantly improved his training, making his presence likely in IPL 2024.
Dasgupta remarked, “Don’t be surprised if they get Rishabh Pant by IPL 2025. MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant are very close. Obviously, Rishabh adores MS, and MS also likes him very much. They spend a lot of time together. Their connection and Rishabh’s thinking are very similar, considering he is very attacking and positive. He’s always talking about winning and whatnot.”
Rishabh Pant yet to join DC for training ahead of IPL 2024
While Delhi Capitals have already initiated their training for IPL 2024, Pant was not practicing with the team then, as confirmed by Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly assured that Pant, who is now in good health, will participate in the IPL next season, with expectations of further improvement by January 2024.
