The former Indian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend Suresh Raina has predicted that Rishabh Pant could fetch between Rs 25-30 crore in the upcoming IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The auction is set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24-25. It will feature 574 players, including 48 capped Indian players and 193 overseas stars. Given the competition, Pant is expected to be one of the most sought-after players, with his name appearing on every franchise’s wish list.
Pant, who is part of the first set of star players, has the potential to break IPL records for the highest price ever. Currently, the most expensive players in IPL history are Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, who were bought for Rs 24.75 crore and Rs 20.50 crore, respectively. However, Raina believes Pant’s all-round abilities like his leadership skills and massive popularity could drive his price even higher.

Speaking to a respected media house, Raina praised Pant for his talent, describing him as not only a powerful batsman and wicketkeeper but also a leader capable of leading any team to an IPL title. Pant captained Delhi Capitals in 2021 and 2022, and his leadership potential continues to grow. In addition to his skills on the field, Pant has built a strong brand presence, making him a top choice for both cricket franchises and brands looking for endorsements.
Pant’s IPL career began with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2016, where his fearless and aggressive batting style quickly made him a standout performer. He was retained by Delhi in 2018 and 2022, earning Rs 16 crore per season. Despite missing some time due to injury, Pant remains one of the most exciting and talented players in Indian cricket.
While teams like Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking for fresh leadership, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could also target Pant in the auction. Known for their emphasis on strong leadership and experienced players, CSK might view Pant as a future captain. With CSK’s substantial purse and history of nurturing young talent, Pant could be a perfect fit for their team, adding both explosive batting and potential leadership for the years to come.
