Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made strategic decisions ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, releasing notable players such as Ben Stokes and Ambati Rayudu.
Chennai Super Kings’s (CSK) player retention list confirms MS Dhoni’s continuation as captain for the upcoming season. Key foreign players released include Kyle Jamieson, Sisanda Magala, and Dwaine Pretorius. Among Indian players not retained, Akash Singh stands out, having played several matches in the previous season. Bhagath Varma and Subhranshu Senapati were also released.
The IPL auction is scheduled for December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, and following the retentions, CSK boasts a purse of INR 32.2 crore. Ben Stokes will miss IPL 2024 due to workload management, a decision supported by the CSK management, considering England’s Test series in India and the T20 World Cup in June 2024.
“England Test captain, all-rounder Ben Stokes has made himself unavailable for IPL 2024 to manage his workload and fitness,” CSK said in a statement on their website on Thursday. “The Chennai Super Kings management is supportive of Ben in his decision to manage his workload with England playing a 5-Test series in India before the IPL and then the T20 World Cup in June 2024,” the statement added.
