CSK Complaint vs RCB DJ Over ‘Dosa Idli’ Song

IPL 2026: CSK Compain to BCCI Over DJ remarks during RCB Clash

Chennai Super Kings have lodged an official complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India following their away game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 5 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The issue centres around the use of a controversial track and remarks made by the stadium DJ during the match.

According to CSK, the song “Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney” was played just before the start of their innings, which the franchise believes was in poor taste. The track, often associated with memes around South Indian stereotypes, has drawn criticism from the five-time champions. A top IPL official has confirmed that the complaint has been received and that the governing council is looking into the matter.

CSK management flags concerns over comments

CSK Managing Director Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that the franchise has formally written to the BCCI, raising concerns not only about the song but also about comments made during the game.

“The DJs are usually around to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering it, we have written to the BCCI to have a look into it,” he said while speaking to the Indian Express.

Background and growing tensions

The controversy adds to an existing narrative between the two teams. A similar situation had emerged last year when an RCB player was seen singing the same track ahead of a match, which led to backlash from CSK fans. The CSK management had then stepped in to ensure the situation did not escalate further.

Viswanathan reiterated that DJs are not expected to make comments targeting opposition players. CSK have also objected to announcements made after dismissals during the match.

The BCCI is now expected to review the matter, as the incident raises questions about the line between home support and maintaining respect in the league.
