Maharashtra has announced their squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25, naming Ruturaj Gaikwad as captain. Known for his calm and steady leadership, Gaikwad will be looking to guide Maharashtra to success in this season’s T20 tournament. After failing to reach the knockout stages last year, Maharashtra is determined to bounce back stronger with a well-balanced squad featuring both experienced players and young talent.
Gaikwad will have plenty of support in his leadership role, with seasoned players like Ankeet Bawane, Rahul Tripathi, and Mukesh Choudhary by his side. For wicketkeeping, Maharashtra has two options in Nikhil Naik and Dhanraj Shinde. Maharashtra has been placed in Group E, which is a tough group with strong teams like Kerala, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Services, and Nagaland. Maharashtra will start their campaign on Saturday, November 23, against Nagaland. The pressure is on the team from the beginning, but with the talent in the squad, there is a real chance for success.
